Missouri has some of the oldest rugby clubs in the United States, dating back to the 1920s. This proud tradition made it easy to assemble an
absolutely first-class side. They have speed with world-class sprinter Alonzo "Zipper" Sperling and size with Gordon "Pounder" Dawson at 6'6",
272 pounds at lock.
The Snikz play to control the ball, constantly forcing the other team to make mistakes that they can take advantage of. Of the teams that beat
them, the Texas Kurps had the right plan. They played a wide-open game, using the whole pitch, with great second and third phase movements that kept
the Snikz having to play almost a one-on-one game. Other teams were less fortunate, however.
The Washington Gnorks lost a close one to the Snikz. The score was knotted at "0" for most of the game, but the constant pressure of the
Snikz forced the Gnorks to make mistakes. The first one was a low kick that didn't make touch, which was caught on dead run by "Zipper". He split a
gap and ran untouched for an easy score. The second was a mishandled ball that was scooped up by "Pounder" and finished with a punishing five yard run.
The Snikz ended their season with a 3-12 record.
