"Hunker down lads," is what Graham "Headhunter" Rownan tells his pack. Rownan, a twelve time capped player from Scotland at lock, is a very
intimidating coach and his side has aggressively responded with a 13-2 record to win the Eastern Section title.
Now in their third season, the Hunkrs have clearly jelled as a team, allowing their opponents a total of only 97 points in 15 matches.
Their best game was against the Michigan Xephs. With 72 minutes gone in the match and having swapped 3 penalty kicks each, the score was tied at 9-9.
It was then that Kenny "Speedo" Bryan jumped into a Xephs passing gap to intercept a pass and raced 85 yards only to be stopped at the 5 foot line.
In the loose ruck that followed, fly-half Tim "Tiny" Ricker picked up the ball then ran parallel with the goal line. At the last possible moment,
he cut against the grain of mounting defense and dove between two backs to give the Hunkrs the margin of victory.
Two weeks later, the Michigan Xephs beat them, in the pouring rain, 21-7 for one of their two losses.
